A few weeks ago the 2010 Summer X Games (X Games 16 if you’re keeping track) were held in Los Angeles. It was another outstanding four days of action sports… full of jumps, flips, spins, slams, and innovation.
This year we saw the usual classic events like the bmx and skate vert, park, and street competitions… but we also saw a few new ones as well.
The return of “Skateboard Big-Air Rail Jam” had my friends and I on the edge of our seats on the final day…. as skateboarding legend Bob Burnquist pulled off some kind of crazy body varial.
Anyways.. instead of me writing all this stuff… check out this video from xgames.com
As always… I was pretty bummed to see the competition finish… but let’s look on the bright side… only 5 more months until Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado!
I’m absolutely stoked… and can’t wait to be in the audience when this massive event goes down.
Georges St-Pierre has already come out and said he wants to compete at the landmark event… and I’m sure he will be the main event… after he manhandles Josh Koschek of course.
The next questions are… where and when?
I think Rogers Centre would have to be the number one choice of venue… it holds triple the amount of people that Air Canada Centre holds.
I’ll put up a poll a little later and see what you think!
“Press Hop” by DJ Steve Porter gained international recognition on ESPN… and other major sports networks. Now… Porter has once again brought his unique style of musical entertainment to the sports world once more.
Ladies and Gentlemen… without any further delay… I give you “Press Hop 2″
Hope you like it… leave a comment and let me know what you thought about it?
And as always…. keep checking in with the F-Files!
It’s a question that has been circulating around my group of sports fan friends since the “Decision”… and the overwhelming response seems to be….. HATER.
There are a few reasons why this whole thing gets under my skin… Bosh leaving my hometown Raptors, LeBron turning his back on Cleveland… and the Heat in general for pulling a New York Yankee move in trying to buy a championship.
However… regardless of my feelings… I don’t blame any of them for doing it.
You play pro sports to win championships… and all 3 players… plus the Heat are putting themselves in the best possible position to do that.
With that being said… it’s time to lighten the mood a little bit.
Production guy Phil (or Diesel Phillips as you may know him from “The Trip”) passed this video along to me.
Cav’s owner Dan Gilbert had his say on the issue in an open letter to fans (which was hilarious)… but now it’s LeBron’s turn.
Take it away your highness…..
I’m going to put up a poll today as well to get your thoughts on whether you love or hate the Heat.
So most of you may not know I’m a huge Soccer (football) and Manchester United fan… and I was lucky enough to get a chance to see my favourite club take on Celtic at Rogers Centre in Toronto last Friday.
For all you soccer haters out there… you should probably ease up until you actually get out to see a match in person… to describe it in one word… incredible.
Sure there might not be any big hits, or fights, or anything like that… but the fans are some of the most… if not the most passionate in the world.
I’d love to show you guys some pictures from the event…. and as soon as I get a chance… I’ll update them.
Just to hold you over until then… here’s a video I came across on Youtube… of the fans in our section cheering for the Reds as they come off the pitch.
(ignore the guy at the start…. and the end)
My friends and I are somewhere down to the right…. in case you were wondering.
I know I’ve been pretty much non-existent… but I’ve broken out of my World Cup Coma… and will be working on the blog more often.
We’re going to re-start things on a local note.
The last 3 years I’ve been able to call the play-by-play for the Belleville Minor Football League’s Championship Saturday. The last couple of seasons… one youngster has really stood out… and I’m not the only one who’s noticed.
Check this out!
The Canadian Football Hall of Fame has chosen a Belleville youth as it’s “player of the week.”
14 year old Hayden Deacon was picked after leading the Bayshore Credit Union Chargers to victory over the Bancroft T-Hawks in the Belleville Minor Football League “B” Finals on June 26th.
Deacon had two touchdowns in the 30-0 victory and was named player of the year.
Coaches describe deacon as a force on the ground with a great team attitude.
Here’s the second episode of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame’s online show “From The 55″. You can skip ahead to Hayden’s feature at the 4:15 mark.
I’m heading to Toronto tomorrow to watch Manchester United and Celtic play at the Rogers Centre (or SkyDome for those of you who like to keep it “old school”). It should be an awesome time… and I’ll have something to show you guys for sure!
