I’m absolutely stoked… and can’t wait to be in the audience when this massive event goes down.
Georges St-Pierre has already come out and said he wants to compete at the landmark event… and I’m sure he will be the main event… after he manhandles Josh Koschek of course.
The next questions are… where and when?
I think Rogers Centre would have to be the number one choice of venue… it holds triple the amount of people that Air Canada Centre holds.
I’ll put up a poll a little later and see what you think!
The UFC star… and coach of this season’s Ultimate Fighter… was arrested at his home yesterday after an “altercation” with his wife… Jenna Jameson.

Reports say Ortiz “assaulted” Jameson and accused her of using Oxycontin… police haven’t confirmed… but you can draw your own conclusions.
Regardless… things are changing for UFC 115… looks like it’ll be a different rematch for Chuck Liddell. The UFC has confirmed Rich Franklin will step into the octagon with the Iceman one more time.
Word from Dana White and UFC management is they’ll get rid of Tito if he’s found guilty… fine with me… I’m not a big fan as it is.
But I wish they’d let Chuck kick the crap out of him one more time as a going away present!
Stay tuned to the F-Files… more to come later today.
It’s fight night…. well fight afternoon anyways… as the UFC makes it’s debut in Abu Dhabi. Talk about a crazy venue… the fights are being held at Ferrari World… which is a Ferrari theme park. The event is also being held outdoors for the first time ever… so it should make things a little bit interesting.
Here are my picks for tonight.
Renzo Gracie def. Matt Hughes (Round 3 Submission)
- The Gracie family are the pioneers of Jiu-Jitsu… and are a very proud group… although Renzo is making his UFC debut.. expect the Brazilian to come out strong and finish off Hughes on the ground.
BJ Penn def. Frankie Edgar (Round 2 Submission)
- While I’ll admit that BJ Penn is one of my least favourite fighters.. you can’t look past his talent. He’s defended his title successfully over his last few fights… so look for him to hold most of the momentum in this one.
Mark Munoz def. Kendall Grove (Round 2 KO)
- I like Kendall Grove… but he has been less than impressive at times… just call this one a hunch.
Terry Etim def. Ragael Dos Anjos (Round 1 Submission)
- This is your typical striker vs grappler matchup… look for Etim to get the takedown… and finish the fight early.
Nick Osipczak def. Rick Story (Round 3 Submission)
- The first time I saw Osipczak was on “The Ultimate Fighter”… he showed a good well-rounded game. I’ve personally never heard of Rick Story (if you have… maybe you can fill me in)… so I’m going with experience in this one.
Anderson Silva def. Damian Maia (Round 1 KO)
- The main event of the evening has Anderson “The Spider” Silva up against Damian Maia. You get nothing but perfection from Anderson Silva… arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. Maia has shown superb submission skills… but in order to submit Silva… you have to take him down first. Good luck with that. Perhaps Silva will catch Maia with a knee while he shoots in for a takedown… we’ll see.
Anderson "The Spider" Silva
Here are my other picks for the UFC 112 Card
Matt Veach def. Paul Kelly (Unanimous Decision)
Mustapha Al-Turk def. Jon Madsen (Split Decision)
Alexander Gustafsson def. Phil Davis (Round 2 KO)
Damarques Johnson def. Brad Blackburn (Round 3 Submission)
John Gundarson def. Paul Taylor (Round 3 Submission)
Take a look at this video…. it’s a tour of the arena built specially for this UFC event!
Enjoy the fights everyone! And feel free to comment… let me know what you think of the picks!
UFC Fight Night goes tonight at 8pm on Spike TV… no Head 2 Head for this one… but stay tuned for tomorrow’s post… I’ll put up the picks for UFC 103 on Saturday.
Also tonight The Ultimate Fighter “Heavyweights” begins.
It’s Team Rampage against Team Rashad.. should be a good one. That will follow Fight Night tonight.
Here’s a sneak peak at the first 10 minutes of tonight’s TUF Premiere… courtesy of Spike TV.
So again… 8PM for Fight Night… followed by TUF!!!!
Well the battle to bring Mixed Martial Arts to Ontario rages on. The UFC has…. barred from competing in the province by the Ontario Athletic Commission… has enlisted the help of a former Premier to legalize the sport here.
For some background on the issue… check out the MMA Feature I put together for 110% Sports on Loyalist College Radio.
For more on the fact that the UFC is getting help in it’s legalization fight… check this link.
Another Canadian city is putting itself on the MMA map… Vancouver and the UFC have reached a tentative deal to stage a show at GM Place in June 2010. Rumous have the main event including Welterweight Champion Georges St.Pierre but no word on who may be challenging him (let’s be honest… who can?).
For more on this great news… check out this article at TSN.ca!

I’ll be posting some UFC Polls throughout the morning as we ramp up towards UFC 102 tomorrow.
Don’t forget to check out the Head2Head picks… and leave a comment about your thoughts on this story… and the Pay Per View this weekend.
Another great night of fights from UFC 101. A bit of an off-night for me… I went 5 and 6 picking winners… but I had 2 perfect picks. When it comes to the Head2Head competition with Giffin… you can check out the official results HERE.
Long story short though… it’s 1-0 for the good guy!
